At the peak of the Syrian civil war, refugees were fleeing across the Mediterranean to make it to safety. Packed refugees on dingy boats were crossing from Turkey to the Greek isles. One of those islands is Lesvos. Many of the dingy boats and life jackets were spread all over the island producing a eco disaster on top of the refuge one. I worked along with NPO Embassy of The Displaced and designed a backpack to help support the refugees. It was made entirely from material from the dingy boats and the life jackets and included production instructions for the bag so they could be made by the refugees on Lesvos.
